Chio

Born in Macau, Weng built a strong foundation in composition at the Shanghai ​Conservatory of Music. She has since gone on to pursue a Master’s degree in ​Screen Scoring at the University of Southern California. Her musical style is as ​diverse as her cultural background and musical upbringing, encompassing ​Orchestral, Eastern, Romantic, Electronic, Hybrid, Action and music for Animation.

Since graduation, she has been assisting Penka Kouneva for additional ​orchestration, working as orchestrator for Steve Jablonsky’s upcoming feature ​“Borderlands”. In the past months, she has assisted various composers, earning ​acclaim for her exceptional talents and strong work ethic. She also interned as an ​assistant composer in NetEase Shanghai. The composers that she has assisted ​include: Elia Cmiral for “In the Name of the Son”, Alex Winkler for the feature ​projects, Alex Mansour on “SOMM TV Cup of Salvation” and Christopher Young ​etc. Presently, she is actively contributing to studio management and assisting on ​forthcoming projects alongside her music hero, Mychael Danna. Furthermore, she ​is acknowledged as an emerging orchestrator, working with individual clients and ​recently became a part of Nolan Markey’s orchestration team(Ahsoka, Star Wars: ​The Clone Wars), contributing to various blockbuster franchises.

She is the composer for the upcoming 2024 RTS game “Stormgate”, especially for ​the unnounced faction. Developed by Frost Giant Studios.
